Literature Text
Watching while you work in a
corner of the garden, near a
cherry tree you planted years ago.
Your hands, leather-clad, work the
clippers that chatter with
each cutting as petaled heads fall.
I tremble as you slowly approach my
favorite, the one that reminds me
of a fine pastel wine.
I've never sipped its nectar, but
admired its hue of palest green
in the heart of a white rose.

Literature
penitential
the mountains ask me why i’m broken,
their voices thrumming through my tripping
heart and burrowing in
my bones.
i tell them i can’t explain why my fingers
can’t grasp their promises-
why we’re both too frozen to offer any warmth
as consolation.
they arch their spines in rigid acceptance,
palms braced against the sky
in prayer-
resignation is all they’ve ever known.
i carve myself into the earth,
breathe birth and bark and blood
and burrow into their sides-
they hide their tears in trembling lips
and sightless eyes.
it seems even the strongest of us
sometimes
have
to crack.

Literature
introspect
do you remember the rainy evening
when you showed me the architecture
of your heart?
columns of dead languages
and old money, ivy strangling
the crumbling stone:
quelle allure!
I had quite despaired
of ever seeing such a place, but you
forced open the wrought-iron gates
and allowed me to take over—
modernity manifest
in my hesitating touch.
I crept over the courtyards
like some brilliant, beautiful
bed of weeds.

I stumbled on a new group where the members have been playing out an experiment this month of April as a kind of NaPoWriMo, called NaPoGliiMo. I was instantly intrigued because of the edgy entries from the ones in the group who are participating. Stay tuned to see if I can run with the pack, even if I do it with a limp. (update: I made it all the way!)
The rule of thumb for interpreting the themes if you're going to do a piece for the group, there really is no rule. They tell everyone to go with how you, the writer, interprets them. And I say that goes for the readers, too. So, I've dedicated this piece with one of the gliitchmonth's group themes for April: "clipping, clipping".
