It was inflicted, and endured
the most chilling way
in exchange for anonymity

Feeling apprehensive,
disorienting me,
arms already lost to me

Out of my depths, I had inhaled
the moment when
the wave washes over me,

At the mercy
in this pregnant darkness,
determined to resist
and unable to

Clawing at the arching sky
an abject prisoner of my gag reflex -
a vertical expression
of a horizontal desire

I wanted to go
to the heart of suffering
to navigate deep
within its undergrowth

The search for clarity takes courage

Gently sloping,
a bay of exquisite symmetry;
those perfect curves

Dancing among the whitecaps
I had the sensation I was
swimming through moonlight

I didn't just lose my modesty
I lost my heart

The low moon
rode across a cloud
casting a net with
a slow-motion gesture

So elegant
stretching like a goddess
the color of pale porcelain -
it was love at first sight

Where nothing seemed to exist
I was overcome
by feelings of arrival
when I surfaced -

More than an escape
it was a way of going home

The void breathed hard on my heart, turning its illusions to ice, shattering them. --Rorschach, Watchmen

well done! some really great choices here.
"Out of my depths, I had inhaled
the moment when
the wave washes over me,"
and
"Dancing among the whitecaps
I had the sensation I was
swimming through moonlight"
are both passages that moved me. I liked the water-play with breathing and light.
I hope you do another finding!

Jade, this is superb! I was instantly immersed in the piece from the start (um... no pun intended :giggle:). The feel of the poem is lyrical and... and.. almost musical. You have such beautiful descriptions throughout, and the images they conjure in my mind are so vivid!
Dancing among the whitecaps
I had the sensation I was
swimming through moonlight
This has to be my favorite stanza--it brought forth such a vivid and beautiful image.

The ending shivered through me like a secret long sought, and finally discovered...

... I have no superlatives that are up to the task of describing this poem. ^^;

Always look on the bright side... there's more light there and it's easier to find stuff.

The entire feel is delicious, it kind of sucks you into this dazed state of mind.

Really good work!

You're so terribly kind to say, and I appreciate very much your thoughts on the stanzas that stand out most to you :thanks:

This was a totally different and rewarding experience with this style of writing!

It's as hard for me to reply to such a generously supportive comment when what I'd say doesn't seem to be up to that very special task...

...so let's just call it even, shall we? :giggle:

And thank you, John, so very much.
