Indigo

cold brooding night
is kept
jealous and waiting,
while lunar mistress
takes herself a lover

the moon-
her milky luminescence
warms him in spite
the lack of heat
from an indigo soul

Lovin' this linked tanka, both in form & content! I've yet to share any tanka but this encourages me.. ~_~

Lorelai: So, I brought us some coffee.
Rory: Why, I'm shocked.
Lorelai: Triple caps, easy foam. If that doesn't work, we'll stick our fingers in a light socket.

Why thank you, lovely one!

I've been writing tanka for a year come this March and it's a form I enjoy writing - I'm thrilled reading something of mine might help you bring to light what you have.

If you ever have time, there's more tanka of mine in my gallery - especially April 2008 when I participated in a Tanka Awareness Month - a tanka a day all month!

An update on the reply I just posted to your lovely comment-

I went through my gallery and found my first tanka was posted January 22, 2008 - I'm now into my 2nd year of writing tanka. While I'm at it, I'll post links below to some of my other works of this same style for ease of reference. I hope you'll enjoy - the range is various, with 4-line as well as 5-line styles:

"Black Tanka" [link]
"Death Tanka 1" [link]
"Death Tanka 2" [link]
"Tanka series I" [link]
"Tanka Sex Talk" [link]
"April Tanka Collection" [link]

I look forward to your thoughts, and the unveiling of your own works. :frail:

This is a beautifully composed set of verse! The images are both intimate and fluid. It reminds me in some ways of the tanka presented in the Manyoshu, one of the earliest known tanka compilations! Very well done SG!

Brilliant; thanx ever so for the links along w/yet more encouragement! ~_^

I've never been able to to hide my haiku addiction but equally love tanka – yet got caught up posting more prose than poetry online so am still working on balancing my writing scales. ^_^

Thanx again.

The tanka seems to be more versatile then the haiku. I like the images you create - great job! How many tanka have you written?

Thanks terribly, Joseph!

Well lessee... the following are from my dA gallery that contain tanka I've written - including my first & only haibun to date that has a tanka in it. Got a calculator? Ah but instead of counting, I hope you'll just enjoy reading them. :)
