Month's Theme: Fortune Cookies
1
tread in elder's shoes
never those of your owning
grows corn on the cob
2
if you in turn seek
the normality of man
turn and run away
3
sex like Chinese food
want more after each hour—
order take-away
4
El Niño
where land used to be
the child of century storm
will lose your way home
5
sandals left on beach
show you coming and going
with the sandpiper
6
the drone of bee hives
the buzz of drones overhead
leaf blowers exalt
7
affairs of the heart—
unwisely juggled in pairs
risk speed dial snafu
8
look left at billboard
contemplate Beyonce's navel
what gridlock?
9.
always live as if
your body is a temple—
without Attila
10
forbidden sweets
invading body-snatchers—
diabetes sucks
11
leaves faint from their host
perishing on the way down—
be your life's host
12
while meditating
you watch birds on windowsill
eat your plum dumplings
this is a good thing...
13
one castoff, two lost
your mate's whose sock mate's missing
the cat squirreled away
14
for Valentine's Day
cat will give left-foot tube sock
to show like for you
15
your love emails you—
"You, my last Valentine thought"
night enfolds you both
16
TV MD ads
list of side effects and death
but the cure is worse
17
endless holidays
wave after wave, but for you
tofu and rice cakes
18
at next Trump luncheon
sticky rice and monkey brain—
sharp chopstick eye-poke
(monkey brain, actual delicacy)
19
greenhouse with no plants
heating land and oceans deep
flood, famine— leaving
20
Porter Ranch, CA
hilltop spewing gas
never thought would sicken you—
still the empty homes
21
Flint, MI
children of the poor
lead in their minds and lives—
still the river flows
22
reuse, not refuse
neighborhoods' dried lawns
turn brown, become recycled
plastic knives and forks
just in case, this is a spoof
23
as a graduate
offer yourself as unskilled
build a rainbow house
24
zen cat will lay on
human face that makes big snore—
feline hockey puck
25
the old tackle box
when you used to go fishing—
hides guilty habit
26
you and lover find
your own pocket universe—
relativity
27
moments before sleep
when all things are possible
your fingers touch rain
28
finally after work
resting between love's foothills
the soft sighs of spring
29
a plate of cookies
but one missing a message—
is no news good news?

Kiss of Darkness
Kiss of Darkness,
run through me.
Give me blood
that I may be.
Last deep breath,
Grip like stone
Kissing death and
Crushing bone.
Literature
Cocaine and Bellybuttons
Are you drunk yet honey,
on the petals you keep peeling
from the roses in my cheeks?
I wonder if they can see;
between your fingers and
behind your ears,
that little piece of destiny.
To all of your misshapen,
displaced and unshaven
stares of neoheaven I decree,
fate is such an unkind enemy.

HaikuWriMo Wrap-Up! Hey everyone, Medoriko here! It has been quite the whirlwind of a month, but HaikuWriMo has finally come to an end. I hope that those who participated were able to finish, or at least felt good about the work you did throughout the month. I have seen some amazing haiku written this month that I'd love to share with all of you in this wrap-up feature! Please give these deviants a moment of your time, as it is difficult to complete or be active in a writing month. The pieces below are a collection of some incredible pieces I have found throughout this month, emphasis on the final week. I hope you all enjoy, and don't forget to favorite/comment this feature so that these deviants get all the attention they deserve!
